Diversity and inclusivity are a part of CSI’s values as we strive to cultivate a place where students can be the best version of themselves. This week, we wanted to hear from our SEIs and what diversity means to them, here is what they had to say:

“Diversity means my differences are celebrated, and it also means I get to observe and appreciate the differences in my community. It means I get to learn nuances from other cultures and individuals, which enriches my life. I treasure all the experiences I’ve had engaged in a diverse community because diversity, implicitly, means everyone is accepted”  Nida Zohra

“Whenever the word diversity comes into my mind, the first thought that comes up in my head is the vast variety of traditional food that I can get to enjoy from different cultures and places. Diversity means being different and unique but at the same time not divided and stereotyped. Diversity is fun. We get to learn fun elements and cultures and beliefs from different walks of life”  Namratha Jose

“To me, diversity means recognizing the distinct differences among individuals and understanding that they are all unique. In a world where thousands of cultures are alive, embracing and listening to people with different perspectives, experiences, and backgrounds than us is crucial. It is within our differences that we find strength and hope”  Julia Foizer

“Diversity means uniqueness, empowerment and the beauty of being different. Diversity makes the world a better and more interesting place. If we were exactly the same world would be boring and very predictable. Here is where the magic of inclusion and multi-culture comes up. In a nutshell, diversity is about respecting and loving others no matter how different our backgrounds are” – Laura Sanchez
