Are you stressing less, doing your best and remembering to rest? We have curated four tips to ensure your exams are a success this semester!
1. Give yourself enough time to study
Don’t put off studying until the last possible minute. Last-minute cramming is not the ideal strategy when preparing for an exam! Create a timetable for your exams to help you manage your time. List how many exams you have and when you are to take them. Then plan to study accordingly. Find a balance that you’re comfortable with!
2. Organize your study space
Do you have enough desk space to spread out your textbooks, notes, AND laptop? Is your chair comfortable? Are your phone and other distractions out of sight? Remove all distractions and ensure that you are as comfortable and able to focus. Some may need a completely quiet space while others prefer light background music. Whatever works best for you, ensure your study space is ready to go!
3. Take regular breaks
Would you try and run for 24 hours a day if you were training for a marathon? We would hope not! This goes the same for studying! You may think studying all hours of the day is the best strategy, but it is counterproductive. Studies show that taking regular breaks helps long-term retention of knowledge. Develop a study routine that best suits you, if you study better in the morning take a break at lunchtime, however, if you study best in the evening, take a break earlier to settle down come time to study. During your breaks make time to get outside and enjoy the fresh air! Vitamin D plays a large role in keeping the brain healthy.
