We know that the end of the semester is a stressful time for students, and academic appeals can add to the pressure. Did you know that CSI has a Student Advocate Program?
The academic appeal process is here to ensure that when you do not agree with an academic decision or grade, you can raise your concern in a timely, fair, and impartial manner. Academic appeals can be submitted to dispute final grades, academic decisions, evaluations worth over 25%, sanctions assessed under the Academic Integrity Policy, and more. While this process is here to help students achieve their desired outcome, it can be intimidating, especially if it’s your first time going through it.
That’s why CSI’s student advocates are here. Students going through an academic appeal can seek support from knowledgeable and empathetic student advocates through every step of the process.
A CSI Student Advocate Can Help By…
- Teaching students about the process for filing an appeal,
- Helping students determine if they have grounds for an appeal,
- Giving students general information about the appeals process,
- Meeting with students one-on-one to discuss their appeal,
- Teaching students how to self-advocate during the appeals process,
- Acting as an objective note-taker to support students meeting with college faculty, chairs, or deans
