You’ve seen the posts, and you got the reminder email on September 28th, but what exactly is the CSI Annual General Meeting, and why should it matter to you?

What’s an Annual General Meeting?

An Annual General Meeting, or AGM, is a yearly event where every member of an organization, its president, and board members meet to discuss the past year of operations, present updates, and vote to approve or oppose new items and by-laws.

In the case of CSI, YOU, the students, are members of our organization and the reason why we do what we do. At the CSI AGM, you’ll have a chance to learn about what CSI did for students this year, what CSI’s financial position looks like, what is planned for next year, and what changes we’ve made to our bylaws. You will also have the opportunity to look over and vote to approve or oppose the details from the 2021 CSI AGM, the 2021 financial statement, and choice of financial auditor for the coming year.  You can find more information about CSI’s Board of Directors, advocacy and Annual General Meeting.

This year’s AGM will be held on Wednesday, October 19th, 2022, at 12:00pm at The Venue, located at the Conestoga College Doon Campus. There will also be an option to join the AGM virtually.

I know what an AGM is; now, what’s in it for me?

Participating in this year’s AGM gives you an opportunity to stay up to date with what CSI is doing, be a part of our work to make the student experience the best that it can be, and to make your voice heard by voting. If this isn’t an exciting enough reason to participate, CSI is giving away $7,500 in prizes to students who participate in person, online, or vote by proxy. These amazing prizes can only be won by students who participate in this year’s AGM, so make sure to mark it in your calendar for your chance to win:

  • 1 of 5 Draws of $500 for students who vote by proxy
  • 1 of 5 Draws of $500 for students who attend in person at The Venue
  • A GRAND prize of free tuition up to $2,500 for both online and in-person attendees

I’m in. How do I participate in CSI’s 2022/2023 AGM?

On September 28, our friends at GetQuorum sent an invitation to your Conestoga College email with the subject line: “Conestoga Students Inc. — Notice of Meeting on October 19th, 2022” with more details, a link to RSVP to the meeting, and a proxy form that you can use to vote on our changes if you cannot make it to the AGM. Follow the instructions in this email to RSVP or submit your proxy vote. All voting will be done virtually, even if you attend in person, so all attendees must have a device with them to vote. This can be a phone, laptop, tablet, or any other device that you can access your college email from.

We’re looking forward to seeing you (in-person or virtually) on October 19th at 12:00pm! Don’t forget to bring a device to vote with, and don’t miss your chance to win part of the $7,500 that CSI is giving away!
