HIIT, Burn Calories & Build Muscle

HIIT is a rigorous interval training sequence with high-intensity exercises, aiming at full body movements. You will burn calories and build lean muscle in this fast-paced class. Improve cardiovascular fitness while gaining muscular strength and endurance. Expect to be challenged, pushed to your limits and end feeling strong. This class is for individuals looking to work hard and see results in a shorter class time frame. What you need: Wear comfortable but supportive clothing you can move in. Cross trainers or a similar type of shoe that provide support and flex easily are recommended.

Movies for Mental Health: Celebrating Black Filmmakers

Movies for Mental Health is an arts-based mental health workshop* that focuses on empowering young adults, educators, health professionals and community members to gain a better understanding of mental health within their environment.   

Knowing that art speaks the language of our interior worlds, we harness film to engage with young people on the vital topic of mental health and mental illness, inspiring them to tell their own stories and explore those of others.   

The event also connects students with mental health resources available to them, empowering them to seek support and heal as individuals and communities.

Healthy Relationships

Whether we are physically distanced from our partner(s) or perhaps quarantined with them 24/7, we have suddenly been presented with unique challenges for healthy communication, boundaries, and mutual support. In this workshop, we will explore these topics and more in an open, non-judgmental space.

  • Learn positive skills for healthy communication, boundaries and mutual support
  • Understand the nuances of communicating digitally in a respectful, supportive manner
  • Identify harmful behaviours, with a focus on digital harm

Trans Allyship workshop

This workshop will boost your knowledge and your portfolio when it comes to supporting trans and gender variant clients, patients, friends, and family. This is an important professional development opportunity, especially for students in the School of Community Services and School of Health & Life Sciences!

By participating in the Trans Allyship workshop, you will:
  • Increase understanding of gender identity and common experiences of people who are trans or gender non-conforming
  • Acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to practice allyship with trans and gender non-conforming members of the community.

CSI’s Emergency Food Bank

The CSI Food Bank is a partner agency of The Food Bank of Waterloo Region. The CSI Food Bank distributes regular, vegetarian and family-sized food hampers with a 3-day supply of non-perishable food items and the choice of a couple of hygiene items. Students can apply to receive a hamper once per calendar month.
