Welcome to February Condors! We hope you are enjoying your time at college so far, and we hope you are looking forward to the month ahead which features various events and activities to be involved with. Between elections, Polar Plunge, Clubs Showcase and so much more, there are a lot of different ways to make the most of your student experience here at Conestoga. Learn more about things coming up and things to keep track of below:
Lunar New Year
Celebrate Lunar New Year on Feb. 7 with CSI! Enjoy some cookies, check out the new spiritual room and get a chance to win a prize pack complete with tea and a mug!
From February 15-March 8, you can run to be a board member! If you consider yourself to be a student leader and you want to have your voice heard at Conestoga, then pick up a proxy package in the CSI main office (room 2A106), or your campus Service Hub to find out more. Complete your proxy package, then turn it in to run to be one of the seven elected student board members. Do you have questions with the election process? CSI is getting “freezin’ for a reason” for the 38th year in a row at the annual Polar Plunge on Wednesday, February 13th at 12 p.m. This year, it’s in support of the Sexual Assault Support Centre of Waterloo Region (SASC), which is a local not-for-profit organization that supports survivors of sexual violence through listening, facilitating healing, and celebrating resiliency. You can pick up your pledge packages in your CSI main office now to jump in an ice cold pool to celebrate your contribution to a great cause. There will be prizes awarded for the highest number of donors, best costume & largest fan base. 107.5 Dave Rocks and 91.5 The Beat will be MC’ing the event!
Varsity Day Feb. 9th
On Saturday, Feb. 9, come enjoy and cheer on your varsity teams! Watch the men’s and women’s volleyball teams face the Bruins at 12 and 2 pm respectively, then stick around to watch the men’s and women’s basketball teams face the Cougars at 6 and 8 pm! Each game will have an $100 Condor cash prize, plus other prizes and draws!

Come check out Trivia Tuesday every single Tuesday in The Venue! Are you a trivia buff, or just know a lot of random facts? If so, this event is for you. Get a chance to win a Venue gift card for you and your team if you win! Also enjoy the special on Tuesday- TNT (Tacos & tall boys) Tuesday. Enjoy a tall boy for only $4.99, and enjoy a taco for $2.50 each!
On February 5th we have a special edition of Black History Month trivia! Bring your knowledge on important leaders and people throughout black history to get a chance to win a prize.
Then on February 14th enjoy Valentine’s Trivia! We will ask questions based on Valentine’s Day and Valentine’s facts.
Live Music Thursday
Love live music? Then check out Live Music Thursday in The Venue every Thursday! This February, Live Music Thursday will be a special edition, featuring black artists. Come out to it and enjoy the special of the day for “Thirsty Thursday.” The special features ½ price wings and $4.99 domestic pints!
Mature Student Social Art Night!
On February 20, enjoy a paint night at The Venue! Dig out those paint brushes, and get creative! This is an all ages event and you must be 19+ to drink with government issued ID. Tickets are $10 each (all supplies included) and are available for purchase on the CSI APP and at the CSI service HUB. Event is open to Conestoga students ONLY! ONE Card and Event Ticket required for entry. See you there, Condors! Tickets will go on sale Wednesday, February 6th!
Student Success Week
Student Success Week will be taking place from February 25-28 this year! Take advantage of this week for catching up on school work and studying, as well as taking a break before your midterms start!
