Get to Know Your BOD: Anusha Mukesh Krishnakumar

Hello Condors! My name is Anusha; I’m a member of your CSI Board of Directors.

I’ve shared some facts about myself so you can get to know me, and I look forward to getting to know you too!

  1. What inspired you to run for the BOD?
I always wanted to be the people’s voice. I believe that communicating with young minds will nurture numerous ideas that can be used to improve student lives. I went into the nominations without expectations, as I was ready for both victory and loss. But thankfully, I am here today and ready to serve.
  2. Which CSI service has been the most helpful for you?
The Healthcare plan, definitely. The added benefit that covers dental and vision is appreciable.
  3. What do you love the most about being a BOD member?
I love being approached by students who do not know us personally but share their problems, hoping for solutions. This role carries a lot of responsibility and trust between individuals. It also keeps me constantly engaged with the student community, which is a rewarding experience.
  4. What skill do you want to master?
I consider my time management skills a work in progress and am constantly learning and improving from myself and my peers. Time is a finite resource; we all have to master its usage and make the most of it. Being able to impart my learning would add a feather to my hat.
  5. What is one moment you’ll always remember from Conestoga College?
I was approached by a random person once in College asking if it was me in the picture of the Board of Directors, and he said that CSI was doing a great job and left. I still don’t know who the person is, but it gives me butterflies whenever I think about it. That feeling of a random person coming and praising you is priceless.
  6. You’re at the movies — are you choosing a sweet or savoury snack?
I would always prefer sweets. It gives me an adrenaline rush. I am a “sweet person” always. LOL
  7. What is your favourite hobby?
Even if someone wakes me in the middle of my sleep and asks me what my favourite hobby is, I would say it is travelling without any doubt. I am passionate about travelling, and I have visited six countries so far, and my aim is to visit at least 50 countries before I turn 50. “Travel is my therapy.”
  8. Could you describe your typical day as BOD?
Put on the Board jacket. Go around the college. Meet people and get to know so many new faces. And then come to meet my other BODs and the President and discuss the happenings and work towards the progress of CSI.
  9. What is your favourite time of day?
I like mornings. It is the beginning of the day and decides the rest of the day; we need to decide wisely. Making our day or breaking our day is in our hands.
  10. If your wardrobe could be in only one colour, what colour would it be?
Red. It symbolizes strength, energy and determination. I also love being a fierce person, which again is represented by the Red colour.
  11. What is your favourite season and why?
Spring. Because it indicates new beginnings. Even if we fall, we can come back. This is what spring means for me.
  12. Any advice for aspiring BOD members?
Always trust your gut and follow your heart. Do not make impulsive decisions. If you feel something is right, go ahead and do it. Take your heart with you but always listen to your brain.
