Being at school all day can drain anyone of their enthusiasm. Sometimes it’s best to take a break and get a change of scenery. Here are a few of the best places on or near Conestoga College campuses for students to recuperate!
1. The Venue (Doon)
CSI’s main student space, The Venue restaurant, is the most versatile site on campus with events going on every single week. Whether it’s trivia on Tuesdays, live music on Thursdays or one of the many after-school parties, there is plenty to do! If you’re starting the day early, breakfast is available from 8am-11am. Every day of the school week features a lunch special that includes classic Venue dishes and alcoholic beverages.
2. Palace Submarine and Burgers (Brantford)
Proudly serving customers since 1982, Palace Submarine is one of the highest-rated dining venues near Conestoga’s Brantford campus. Are you a Toronto Maple Leafs fan? Then you’ll feel right at home dining here among countless photos and other memorabilia covering the walls. If you aren’t in the mood to leave campus for lunch or dinner, they also offer delivery!
3. The Cave (Cambridge)
A student lounge right inside Cambridge campus complete with pub-style games, The Cave is the perfect place for Cambridge students to unwind. Challenge your friends to a game of pool with the fully supplied billiards table. See if you can be the foosball champion of your friends. Just looking to relax? Recline on an incredibly comfortable couch while watching television on the flat screen.
4. Holy Guacamole (Downtown Kitchener)
As an international student, I know it can be difficult to find a restaurant that reminds you of cooking from home. Luckily for anyone who misses Mexican food, there is always Holy Guacamole. Delicious and fresh, this joint comes prepared with all your taco and burrito needs. With gluten-free options, this restaurant will have you leave saying “Muchas gracias.”
5. The Den (Doon)
A prime hub for those students who love gaming. Whether you’re crushing your opponents in WWE on the PS4 or creating a bustling civilization in the popular board game Catan, The Den is the place you want to be. With several of the latest generation consoles and plenty of gaming options, there’s plenty to keep you occupied as you wait for a class or delay the bus ride home. Located directly over The Venue, The Den recently added food and beverage options to be delivered to you as you play!
6. The Nguyen’s Vietnamese Restaurant (Guelph)
Subs, noodles, pad thai and bubble tea? The Nguyen’s Vietnamese Restaurant has seemingly endless food options! With gluten-free and vegetarian options, there’s something here for everyone. Located just up the street from Conestoga’s Guelph campus, Nguyen’s is a mere three-minute walk from the campus.
7. The Break Room (Waterloo)
A pool hall with affordable drinks is a simple description that only scratches the surface of what The Break Room offers. Not only does it feature some of the most exquisite pool tables in the game, but they also have multiple dartboards, projectors to watch your favourite teams in the big game, cornhole and more! You can drive there from Waterloo campus in less than a minute or make the five-minute walk and reward yourself with customizable drink options!
