Welcome to all new and returning students to Conestoga!
There are lots of exciting activities and events for everyone to get involved in during the year. It’s going to be a great year!
If there is something specific you would like to see or make happen, please visit the CSI and let us know in advance.
The CSI is committed to….“enhancing student satisfaction through active college and community awareness.” All students enrolled either full time or part-time in full-time academic programs at Conestoga are members of the CSI and can take advantage of everything we offer.
The board’s job is to link with students, write policy, monitor policy and create positive changes outside of the CSI. The board will invite all students to the CSI student forums, talk with students around campus, read/ listen to campus media in order to get a better sense of what you, the student, want and expect from you student association. Based on that, they can add or amend policy to further guide CSI over the long term. Creating change outside of the CSI is probably one of the most difficult tasks they will attempt to accomplish whether they are meeting with college or government officials- there is always work to be done.
As members of the College Student Alliance, CSI is able to have input on provincial issues along with other college student associations on government policies on tuition, student fees, in-campus employment, financial aid, recognition prior learning and quality.
Recent accomplishments of the CSI include a student-friendly Ontario budget in the spring of 2005 that promised an injection of $6.2 billion dollars over five years. We were able to partner with the college and proposed a student centre that will be sure to help further enhance Conestoga’s unique student experience. We were responsible for having students involved in the hiring of future faculty, initiating a change to the college’s academic recognition (honor roll) policy and for the birth of a new student card on campus. We continue to work in your behalf.
